ComplyAdvantage: Scoring the Accounts That Matter

· ComplyAdvantage

ComplyAdvantage sells into compliance managers — one of the harder buyers to reach in enterprise software. They do not respond to volume outreach, they are trained to be sceptical of vendor claims, and the number of people who hold the role at any given target account is small. A textbook small-TAM buyer: get the account list wrong and there is no larger pool to fall back on.

My engagement started with the account itself, not the outreach. I designed a detailed account-and-contact scoring and weighting mechanism that ranked target accounts, and the individuals inside them, by fit and buying signal — then fed that ranking directly into the go-to-market team’s outreach, so the BDR team and the enterprise AEs were working the accounts most likely to convert, in the right order, rather than working a flat list.

Clay sat underneath that mechanism, as the enrichment and signal layer keeping the scoring current as accounts moved. But the mechanism itself was the point, not the tool — the judgement about which signals mattered, and how to weight them against one another, is what turned a list of compliance managers into a prioritised account plan the team could actually run.

Alongside the scoring work, I rolled out enablement across both sides of the funnel: BDRs working top of funnel, and enterprise AEs carrying the deal once it opened. The same discipline about who to prioritise, and how to approach them, held from first touch through to close.
